things that suck:
tw: discussion of domestic abuse
- finding out your sister’s husband broke her nose in an argument
- finding out this isn’t the second time something like this this has happened, but is in fact the latest in a string of incidents that have apparently been happening once about every six months for years
- calling her but getting no response/acknowledgment (learned this all secondhand from my dad)
- knowing that now you won’t be able to visit her/your nieces and nephews this summer if she goes back like it seems she might
- wanting to tell her that you understand it’s not as simple as just leaving not only because abusive relationships are more complex than those of us who haven’t been in them realize but because kids are involved but that she can do it, and feeling pretty certain it won’t be received well (for a number of reasons - still debating doing it)
- feeling like even when you make the effort to act like a sister it means nothing
